Current events and update on Poetry challenge 2

Hi All, Hope you are keeping well and enjoying poetry, stories and more.

I wanted to give you a quick update on the 2nd poetry challenge I started. I asked people to let me know what they had in their pocket, unusual items that I could get into a poem for a bit of fun. It’s going well but I think that current events tend to put poetry (especially silly poetry) into a kind of strange perspective. It’s not that it isn’t important to keep writing, I think it is. I do feel that timing is important with these things. I will probably publish this piece some time soon. I am aware of the global reach of anything that is written on the internet and we must be mindful of how this can impact.

I wish all those who are facing tyranny, oppression and violence a light at the end of the tunnel. Whilst there are conflicts in the world that may feel high on the agenda, there are many forgotten wars and unresolved issues that affect peoples lives every day. As writers we should not sit back and be silent but use whatever talents we have to help others, even if this is in a small way. That is the power we hold.
